Build your own

Building a PlancH takes four steps:

1. Get the components: about 45 parts, most of them cheap and common.
2. Order the PCB: upload the Gerber ZIP to any PCB maker; only the bare board, no assembly service needed.
3. Assemble: everything is soldered by hand with a regular soldering iron. Plan 2–3 hours for the first board.
4. Flash the firmware and add the board to Home Assistant.

Optionally, print the desk stand.

Skills and tools

You should be comfortable with SMD soldering: 0805 passives, castellated pads and a few small LEDs. A temperature-controlled iron, flux, fine tweezers and a magnifier are enough; no hot air station or reflow oven is required. The assembly guide has the full list.
